New Hampshire Food Bank Receives $26,000 Donation from The Common Man Family

The New Hampshire Food Bank Executive Director Mel Gosselin accepts a donation of $26,000 from The Common Man Vice President Diane Downing, The Common Man Chief Operating Officer Vincent Vella, and Erica Auciello Murphy, director of communications and community relations for The Common Man family. 

 

MANCHESTER, N.H. – At a time when demand for services is especially high, The New Hampshire Food Bank received a boost of support from long-time partners at The Common Man family of restaurants in New Hampshire, who presented the organization with a $26,000 donation.

The funds were raised with the help of guests and partners of the independent hospitality company, who answered the call to “DO GOOD” by purchasing Holiday Coupon Books or supporting and playing in The Common Man Invitational Golf Tournament.

“The New Hampshire Food Bank plays such an important role in the lives of our neighbors in communities across our state,” said Common Man Vice President Diane Downing.  “We very much appreciate their efforts to eliminate food insecurity here at home.”

Mel Gosselin, Executive Director of The New Hampshire Food Bank, said the organization relies on partnerships with businesses like The Common Man, not only during the higher demand of the holiday season, but all year long.

“The Common Man truly understands and values our communities across New Hampshire,” said Gosselin.  “They realize that many don’t have the resources to dine at their locations, so they bring the food to them via the Food Bank, which they have done for many years.  During this time of year that focuses on family gatherings, we are truly grateful to have the Common Man as part of ours, helping us provide more than 50,000 meals.”

The Common Man family continues its support of The New Hampshire Food Bank this holiday season, with sales of a coupon book filled with more than $100 in savings at its restaurants, inns, store, spa and performance center. Books are sold at all locations and online at thecman.com for $10 each, and will be available for purchase December 1.

The New Hampshire Food Bank, a program of Catholic Charities New Hampshire, serves as the only food bank in the state working to provide nutritious food and resources to the hundreds of thousands of New Hampshire residents who are food insecure.  One in nine people in our state is food insecure, more than 42,000 are children under the age of 18. In 2014, The Food Bank supplied more than 11 million pounds of food to more than 400 partner agencies, including food pantries, homeless shelters, soup kitchens, children’s programs, senior centers and more.
