ASHLAND, N.H. – The Common Man hospitality family in New Hampshire has promoted long-time employee Sean Brown to Chief Operating Officer (COO).

Brown, a resident of Moultonborough, has more than 20 years of service with The Common Man. He began his tenure with the company in 1995 as a server at Boathouse Grille in Meredith, now called Lago Restaurant at The Inn at Bay Point.

Over the course of his career, Brown has taken on increased roles and responsibilities, including Manager, General Manger, Multi-Unit General Manger, and most recently, Director of Operations for The Common Man’s specialty concept restaurants in Meredith and Plymouth.

With Brown’s promotion, current COO Vincent Vella becomes Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for The Common Man.

Brown has a proven track record of increasing performance at his locations, dedication to hospitality, and a strong commitment to his teams. He is a firm believer in the power of hospitality. “All that matters is how the guests feel when they walk out the door,” said Brown.

Beyond his leadership within the company, Brown lives The Common Man’s “Do Good” mantra as a leader in the community, currently serving on the board of directors of the New Hampshire Lodging and Restaurant Association (NHLRA), volunteering at Hands Across the Table to provide free meals to those in need in Greater Laconia, and is the Common Man’s liaison for the PSU Apprentice Program. Brown also supports numerous fundraisers at his locations, including spaghetti suppers, Rafting for Wishes in-house fundraisers for Make-A-Wish New Hampshire, and raffles during the Pond Hockey Classic. He is a past board member of the Lakes Region Tourism Association and the Greater Meredith Program.

Brown has earned numerous accolades during his career in hospitality, including being named General Manager of the Year by The Common Man family in 2007 and 2009, and receiving numerous nominations for that award in other years.  He attended Plymouth State University, which is what brought him to New Hampshire.

Founded in 1971, the Common Man family in New Hampshire is made up of 16 restaurants, two Inns, a Spa and Salon, Company Store and The Flying Monkey Movie House and Performance Center.  Common Man locations include Common Man restaurants in Lincoln, Ashland, Concord, Claremont, Merrimack and Windham; The Common Man Inn & Spa, Foster’s Boiler Room, Italian Farmhouse and The Flying Monkey in Plymouth; The Common Man Inn & Restaurant in Claremont; Lakehouse Grille, Camp, Lago and Town Docks in Meredith; Route 104 Diner in New Hampton; Tilt’n Diner in Tilton; Airport Diner in Manchester; and the Common Man Company Store in Ashland.
