Common Man Family Wins Two Awards at New Hampshire Lodging & Restaurant Association Event

NASHUA, NH – The Common Man family in New Hampshire was honored with two awards at the New Hampshire Lodging and Restaurant Association’s (NHLRA) annual Star Awards Dinner held recently in Nashua.

Jennifer Tower, general manager of The Common Man Inn & Spa in Plymouth, was named Innkeeper of the Year by NHLRA.  Tower has been with the Common Man family since starting as a server at the Lincoln Common Man restaurant in 2000.  She became the Sales and Events Manager when the Inn opened in 2002 and was promoted to Innkeeper and Director of Sales in 2006.

Tower is heavily involved with the Plymouth-area community, is a past board member of the New England Inns & Resorts Association (NEIRA) and is a current member of the national industry group The Council of Hotel and Restaurant Trainers (CHART).

The Common Man family also won the Restaurant Neighbor Award, given by the National Restaurant Association, to local restaurants that focus on projects that give back to their communities.  The Common Man Apprentice program, a partnership between The Common Man and Plymouth State University, which gives students real-world experience in developing and bringing a product to market, was recognized as the reason for the award.

Common Man CEO Jason Lyon started The Common Man Apprentice program with PSU Professor Bonnie Bechard in 2005.  It is now in it’s 16th semester, and in that time Lyon has mentored more than 1,000 PSU students.
